Exactly one year ago today – on 28th August 2024 – I posted about the Dubstar Album “Make It Better”, which on that date was 24 years old.
One year later of course, it’s the “milestone” 25th anniversary of what was to become the original Dubstar lineup’s final album (excluding United States of Being, which wasn’t technically released as a production album).
One year later
So now that we’re at that 25 year mark, have any of my opinions changed?
No, I don’t think they have. I’ve listened to all five studio albums quite a bit over the last year – that in itself is a telling tale. Should I have cooled on the band over a period, then my choice of music would include less and less as the year progressed. But no, I still listen to those albums regularly. And I’m still finding little snippets of lyrics that I hadn’t really noticed, or a little bit of Chris’s guitar that I hadn’t noticed (but is brilliant!).
And “Arc of Fire” still remains one of my favourite Dubstar tracks. 😁
The Dubstar Archive
I’ve previously mentioned The Dubstar Archive. It’s a website and YouTube channel that ex-Dubstarian Steve Hiller runs that contains no small amount of information about Dubstar. There is so much more to Dubstar than three (or five, depending on which way you look at it) albums!
Steve’s YouTube channel is equally as informative – Steve runs Q&A sessions on the odd occasion (of which I have had questions answered – thank you Steve!).
It’s kept me busy!
Steve releases previously unreleased material (a prime example is the United States of Being albums) on YouTube (and various other platforms), which has indeed kept me both busy – and interested in Dubstar.
There is still nothing better than hearing Sarah mournfully recount tales of lost love and sadness. 😁
Happy 25th Anniversary Make It Better
Here’s once more raising an electric glass to Make It Better. Here’s to another 25 years of Sarah making it better.
Cheers!
